He was Rural Dean of Bromsgrove from 2000 to 2006 and team rector of Holy Trinity Parish incorporating St Stephen’s in the town centre, Webheath, St George’s and Tardebigge.After his retirement in 2013, he continued to minister at St Martin’s in Worcester.Kenneth Ray Rogers was born in Houston, Texas, on August 21, 1938, the fourth of eight children, born to Lucille Lois (née Hester; 1910–1991), a nurse's assistant, and Edward Floyd Rogers (1904–1975), a carpenter. The Rev Canon David Rogers, who grew up in Hayley Green and attended Halesowen Grammar School, died recently, aged 69, just days after being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour.

Rev Rogers served as curate in Astwood Bank with Crabbs Cross from 1975-79 and after a time as vicar in Cradley Heath came to St Leonard’s Beoley in Redditch in 1990, where he spent 20 years serving the community.

Later success includes the 2006 album release, Water & Bridges, an across the board hit, that hit the Top 5 in the Billboard Country Albums sales charts, also charting in the Top 15 of the Billboard 200.

The first single from the album, "I Can't Unlove You," was also a sizable chart hit.
